NORTHTOWNS SOCCER CLUB – August 14, 2008 meeting minutes

 

Board Members present: Jerry Sullivan, Glenn Dolata, Frank Huber, Don Rogers, and Bill Weitz.

 

Meeting called to order at 8:35 pm by Jerry Sullivan. 

 

Meeting Minutes: The reading of the July 10 meeting minutes were dispensed with and the minutes were accepted as written.

 

Treasurer’s Report:  Don Rogers presented his monthly report.  Total checking and savings account balance as of the August meeting is $126,323.38.   As usual all bills have been paid and deposits made.  Treasurer’s report accepted. 

 

House Report:  Frank Huber reported the following:

  • Summer House Program ended August 8 with 910 registered players this year.
  • The House Picnic will be Saturday, August 16 at Fairmont Park between 11 am and 2 pm.
  • Frank thanked Don Rogers for the work he did writing out all the winning raffle lottery checks.
  • Frank is looking for a House Coordinator that would work along side Frank pending his re-election to the position this fall for a two year term.

 

Travel Report:  Glenn Dolata and Frank Huber reported the following:

  • Glenn ran down the end of season team standings.  Congratulations to the teams.
  • The Club will have 22 teams next year.
  • The status of the fields at the Middle School will be determined pending a meeting with the School District’s Athletic Director.
  • Glenn is looking for volunteers to install “whiskers” for field marking reference points to make it easier to line fields next year.
  • JSL meeting issues:  Homepage will be different.  Looking to eliminate August schedules, preliminary schedules to be out in the fall.  Restructuring of the league is pending for 2009/2010 with the formation of 5 regional clusters to determine regional representation and appointing a member to be on the League Board of Directors.  Any representatives for Northtowns?
  • Frank indicated that the new team uniforms are out, check web site.
  • Coaches are to check their risk management cards for any 8/31/08 expirations.  Frank will be reviewing and will be notifying the effected coaches.
  • The contract with the Challenger Soccer Program has been renewed and Glenn had activities booklets for the U-14 coaches at the meeting.
  • Frank indicated there are still players that owe travel fees.
  • With the recent team tryouts coaches are to advise Frank of their team rosters and please coaches advise the players that were cut.  Frank will refund monies to the cut players.

 

Fundraising:

·          The Golf Outing at Deerwood will be on a Sunday, August 24.   Glenn again emphasized the importance for teams to be actively supporting this outing.  Door prizes would be gratefully appreciated.

 

 

Old Business:  None

 

New Business: 

 

  • Ken Belote indicated he will be dealing with the Wheatfield Schools relative to building use.  Please coaches let Ken do this.
  • Ken Belote will further advise regarding coach training courses – Intermediate, D & E License.  The courses are pending at the Village Glen in Williamsville for September and October.  Glenn indicated that the coaches are responsible for paying for the course but will be reimbursed over a three year period with their service to Northtowns.

 

Field Status:

  • Still negotiating with Town of Wheatfield.
